In this issue of LIFELine, we focus on cardiometabolic health, or how your heart and your body’s metabolic processes work to keep you well. Metabolic processes are how the body converts food to energy. Some childhood cancer survivors may have a higher risk for heart disease, diabetes, or obesity. But there are ways to lower those risks. Eating healthy foods, staying active, and keeping a healthy weight are powerful steps you can take to reach that goal.
We are excited to share an interview with Dr. Stephanie Dixon, who helped lead a major study on cardiometabolic health in survivors. We highlight the story of Wes Kinchen, another survivor, who is working on his PhD to find reasons why some survivors have cardiometabolic problems, and design ways to help prevent and manage these conditions.
Thank you for being part of St. Jude LIFE. Your involvement helps us learn how childhood cancer survivors can live longer, healthier lives. We are proud of your efforts and grateful for your participation. Your stories and choices help shape the future of survivor care and inspire others to take charge of their health.
With thanks,
